Coasters Etiquette
We try to avoid rules, but having a few helps to ensure everyone gets looked after properly, especially when we're out together on our bikes.
As well as an etiquette for club rides, we have a formal constitution, safeguarding policies and a committee who make various decisions about running the club. If you want more information go to our Policies page.
- If you enjoy riding with the club, make it official and become a member. Membership costs £16 per year and is essential for third party insurance cover. Putting insurance aside membership fee's are used to maintain the club and continue to put on the events the Coasters know and love.
- We're all there to have fun, so the golden rule is no one gets left behind. The group always waits at the top of the hill or the next junction for whoever is at the back. AND WE REALLY DON'T MIND!
- If you want to race ahead, that's fine. But when you get to the top of the hill/end of the segment, turn around and ride back down to the back of the group and keep them company.
- Look after the person behind you. If you think they're struggling or have a mechanical or whatever, try to get a message passed forward so the group knows to come back or wait.
- Helmets must be worn please.
- Obey the highway code so we ride safely and considerately. Club rides are a great opportunity to learn but always ride within your capabilities.
- Be self-sufficient - always carry at least a spare inner tube, tyre levers, pump and multi-tool. Please don't solely rely on other riders - even though they will be happy to help.
- Have a great time!
