Lots of the Coasters enjoy riding sportives, often tackling the challenge together. Here's a list of some of our favourite 'non-competitive' sportives, charity rides and suchlike in our area (for races click here). For specific dates, see our Events page.
May - EDEN CLASSIC
This sportive is an amazing experience, starting and finishing by the famous biomes of the Eden Project. There's a variety of routes, with the longer ones being a significant challenge for any rider thanks to all the climbing. The feed stations have been particularly excellent in previous years.
May - THE ROLLER COASTER RIDE
This is not actually an 'event' like the others on this page, but Wadebridge Coasters CC's special club ride.
July - DARTMOOR CLASSIC
An incrediby popular and challenging sportive in the land of cream tea confusion. Book your place early!
July - TWO MOORS 100
Starting and finishing in Bideford, this is a lovely ride for a summer's day. The two moors in question are Dartmoor and Exmoor (although you'll actually spend most of the time riding between them so it's not all hills). It's in Devon though, so don't forget your passport.
September - COAST AND CLAY
With famous cycling commentator Phil Liggett on the mic to set you off, this sportive is an excellently well-organised event that covers lots of roads that are well known to Coasters from our club rides.
October - LANDS END 100
St Michael's Mount at dawn is a pretty spectacular way to start a sportive, but the scenery is amazing all the way around the Land's End peninsular. The weather can be surprisingly good too, and with less climbing than most, this is a great local sportive for beginners as well as veterans.
