'Ready Set Ride'
(Ages 1 to 7)

WCCC is proud to promote British Cycling's Ready Set Ride scheme to help parents teach their children to cycle. Teaching your children to ride a bike can be a wonderful experience - or a total nightmare! This is how WCCC helps you get your kid pedalling.
Ready Set Ride is a free resource from British Cycling, providing over 20 games designed to prepare and enable a child to ride a bike. Some of the games don't even require a bike so you can start helping them even when they're still very young. The resources are available on the Ready Set Ride website.

how the Coasters can help

In order to support you as you teach your children, we invite you to bring them along to St Breock School on a Saturday morning when our Coasters Kids Coaching sessions are in progress (check the Coasters Kids programme for dates and times). We are not offering to teach your children for you, but we can offer the following:
  • Ideal learning area - finding a safe, suitable location for learning to ride a bike can be easier said than done; we have just the place for you.
  • Inspiring environment - while your children are learning to ride, they will be surrounded by other children having fun on their bikes!
  • Supportive back-up - volunteers and professional cycling instructors are on hand to help or advise if necessary.
  • Essential equipment - we can provide copies of all the Ready Set Ride resources and other basic equipment needed to play the games. If you ask in advance, we may be able to lend you bikes and helmets.
  • The next step - once your child is pedalling, he or she can potentially move straight into the Sprockets Coasters Kids group.
Please contact Jennie Brown for more information.
  • NB: All children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent (or an adult acting in loco parentis).
If you're really struggling to teach your child to cycle and would like to hand the job to a professional cycling instructor, we can recommend Cycle Training Cornwall.
